My Community
Celebrating Our Community
Just like any industry, us authors cannot do this alone. While writing itself is mostly a solitary act, a strong author community helps to connect fellow writers in a way that supports everyone – from discovering new marketing opportunities to working through issues with a story.
On this page I will give shout-outs to my author friends and highlight organizations and opportunities that have helped me along the way.
Groups and Organizations
Colorado Authors League
The Colorado Authors League (CAL) is a fantastic organization that helps a wide variety of authors and book cover artists. From non-fiction and poetry to memoirs and mysteries, CAL promotes and supports published authors in Colorado by creating an open and welcoming community. They also hold holiday co-op events, book racks, writing contests, and more.
Colorado Independent Publishers Association
The Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA) is a nonprofit composed of authors, independent book publishers, and publishing professionals. They put on various webinars to help educate and support their community. They also run a popular book contest and provide a number of wonderful opportunities for their members, including their booth at the FallCon Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association tradeshow.
My Word Publishing
My Word Publishing (MWP) is your go-to resource for all things self-publishing. They guide experienced authors and first-time authors through the self-publishing process in a way that helps the author control all their distribution and copyrights. They also allow you to cherry-pick the services you want, so you can choose how you work with them.
